St Peters Primary, Renfrewshire Council
This project for akp comprised the complete vacant refurbishment of a 2 storey traditionally constructed primary school for Renfrewshire Council over a 45 week period. It is due to be handed over late March 2010.
Demolition works included the removal of an asbestos containing roof from the complete structure, taking all necessary precautions to preserve the integrity of existing wall heads etc., complete strip out of all windows, finishes, fixtures and fittings, ventilation, plumbing and electrical services. Existing doors were removed carefully for later treatment, preparation and re-use.
Existing wall heads were then built up to required levels and a new pitched roof installed on timber trusses prior to the installation of new windows, providing a watertight building for extensive renovations within.
Internally, works included extensive repairs to the existing terrazzo flooring, construction of new partitions and screens, high value insulation systems, a combination of MF and suspended ceilings, installation of new heating and hot / cold water systems, extensive plaster repairs to existing surfaces in preparation for decorative coatings, installation of classroom fitments including specialist furniture and installation of specialist screeds to undulating floors. Floor coverings comprised commercial carpeting and specialist vinyl to discreet areas and to the gymnasium floor.
New access control systems and integrated security and fire detection system was also installed as part of our works.
A new plant room was constructed to cater for the installation of a new cold water services tank, boilers and pumps associated with heating and hot water systems.
External works included the complete re-roofing of the existing building using a combination of pitched tiled roof and single ply membrane flat roof coverings, renovation and repair of existing drainage systems, installation of new manholes, extensive render repairs, new PVC fascia and soffit system, decoration of building complete and localised repairs to existing tarred surface.
