New Kilpatrick Parish Church

akp dots

The A grading was established as a result of its magnificent leaded glass windows and ornate cornice details.
The project was prompted following an area of cornice falling from the ceiling and landing in chancel area.
The project objectives were to replace on a like for like basis the entire lime plaster ceiling and cornice, to strengthen existing roof members and replace areas of damaged lath.
In addition, akp upgraded the internal lighting, paying special attention to the backlighting of three stained glass internal windows to provide a natural daylight look. They commissioned oak doors and pew ends to match existing and completely removed and refurbished a first floor stained glass window as an access and egress point for materials.
Also akp erected and dismantled a three storey temporary scaffold without damaging the existing structure and decoration of the entire church. Specialist materials such as paint and animal hair plaster were required.
The project was successfully completed, having been monitored throughout by Historic Scotland
