The Boston Building was formerly the Glasgow HQ of the British Red Cross. The project comprised the complete refurbishment of the existing two storey office block including the construction of an additional floor to create a modern three storey open plan office building. The building had been stripped to a shell condition. The project involved extending the existing steel frame to accommodate an additional floor of office accommodation. The external façade of the building features stainless steel and black cladding with an insulated render system to the rear complete with a new single ply roofing membrane to the roof. DDA compliance has been adhered to with the installation of ramped access to the rear and the installation of a lift and disabled toilet. A new plant room was created within the basement of the building where all services are now located. The internal fit out was restricted to a basic level on the general floor plan (The project included: new windows and wall linings, suspended, ceilings, lighting, ventilation, raised access flooring, air conditioning decoration works). The toilets were finished to a high specification and a feature stair was installed. Externally akp installed a generator base and the overlaying of the existing tarmac car park
