akp is helping to breathe new life into one of Scotland's leading private hospitals.
The healthcare construction specialist has landed a £250,000 contract to refurbish the Assisted Conception System Unit at the Nuffield Hospital in Glasgow's West End.
It is altering the unit to bring it in line with the new European Tissue Directive in which certain criteria has to be met with regards to controlling particles of air when embryos are put together for fertilisation.
Work includes installing new ventilation/air conditioning systems and reconfiguration of some rooms, erecting new partitions, electrical alterations and renewal of all floor, wall & ceiling finishes. It is scheduled for completion in the middle of February.
Ian McEwan, managing Director at akp, said: "This is a very exciting contract for us and allows us to draw on our considerable experience in delivering very technically challenging projects in the healthcare sector."
akp was founded 14 years ago and has three specialist divisions Contracts, Interiors and Healthcare. Recent high profile contracts include the new £6.8m cardio-thoracic unit at Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank and the office fit-out for BDO Stoy Hayward at 4 Atlantic Quay.
The company relocated its headquarters to East Kilbride this summer as part of a major restructure and rebranding move to fulfil its ambitious growth strategy to increase turnover from £18 million to £40 million within five years.
