£1.8M NEW CONTRACT WIN FOR akp

akp has won a £1.8m contract to transform two wards at Gartnavel Royal Hospital in Glasgow.

The healthcare construction specialist is refurbishing McNair House and Rutherford House, which provide care and treatment for adults suffering from wide ranging mental health difficulties of a severe or enduring nature.

The company, which recently created the new £6.8m cardio-thoracic unit at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank, is completely revamping the wards by stripping out existing electrical and mechanical installations, replacing windows and doors, altering lay-out installations and landscaping the exterior.

New kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms are also being fitted and new flooring is being laid throughout.

McNair House will house 10 patients, while Rutherford will have room for 18. Both buildings are scheduled for completion in May.
