£600,000 CONTRACT WIN FOR AKP

2008

Construction specialist akp has won two contracts worth more than £600,000 to upgrade facilities at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The company is altering and refurbishing the food stores to create a new medical records department for the busy hospital.

In a separate contract it is also installing a brand new lift in the dining room to meet the demands of new disability legislation.  The contracts run for 12 weeks.

Peter Morrison, Managing Surveyor at akp, said: "These are challenging contracts for us as they involve fitting in the construction work around the workings of a busy hospital staff dining room and the adjacent clinic.

"With the lift we are not only installing it we are also putting in all the mechanical infrastructure and lift shaft which is a considerable amount of work."

akp Scotland was founded 14 years ago and has three specialist divisions Contracts, Interiors and Healthcare.  Other completed high profile contracts include the £7.2m contract to create the new cardio-thoracic unit at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank, Transport Scotland HQ and A&S Ireland's offices in Glasgow for which the company was awarded a Silver medal from the Association of Interiors Specialists Contractors Awards.

The company relocated its headquarters to East Kilbride in Summer, 2007 as part of a major restructure and rebranding move to fulfil its ambitious growth strategy to increase turnover from £18 million to £40 million within five years.
