Prospect Healthcare demonstrated its faith in akp's healthcare division by awarding them the contract to relocate the chapel at Hairmyres Hospital and undertake alterations within the cardiac cath labs.
Representing a £550,000 contract, the work will include moving the chapel to a new location within the ground floor of the hospital next to the cafeteria, as well as carrying out the interior fit out.
Commenting on the contract which was awarded in a competitive pitch, Ian McEwan, Managing Director, akp Scotland Ltd, said, "Hairmyres Hospital features Lanarkshire's only cardiac catheterisation centre which includes two high spec labs. In place of the current chapel we will create a seven bed recovery ward which will further strengthen the facilities within this vital heart treatment centre. By relocating the chapel, visitors and patients will also benefit from an improved environment".
Located in East Kilbride, Hairmyres Hospital is a district general hospital comprising of 415 inpatient beds.
In the past fourteen years akp's healthcare division has delivered over 300 projects for this growing sector including a £7.2m contract creating a new cardiothoracic centre for the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank.
