New face at the helm

akp have plenty of positive news to report after emerging from the 3-month lockdown, not only has a raft of new business been secured but equally as newsworthy a new Managing Director is now steering the business forward.

January 2020 saw akp celebrate 30 years in business, which was led by Founding Partner and Managing Director Ian McEwan throughout.  Today akp wish to announce that Ian will take on the role of Chairman and he has selected Director Martin McColl to take over the reins as Managing Director with immediate effect.

Ian McEwan said, “I congratulate Martin on his newly promoted Managing Director role. His exceptional attributes exemplify akp’s core values while delivering results for our clients by guiding them through these times of unprecedented disruption.

I look forward to him leading the team to new levels, whilst bringing a valuable fresh perspective to our business improvement agenda and I wish him every success in the next phase of his career at akp.”

With nearly 30 years’ experience within the industry, Martin holds Construction Management, Health & Safety and Building Services Engineering qualifications giving him a well-rounded offering as MD to an already proficient team at akp.

Martin McColl commented: “I’m both delighted and excited to have been afforded this opportunity by Ian, to lead a company with a strong ethos surrounding; project delivery, quality, health & safety and communication.

I’m also pleased to share that, despite the challenging times, we’ve had a strong start to our financial year with circa £5m of contract wins in the first quarter and an order book that will keep us on this same track for the remainder of 2020-21.

There is no doubt that the health crisis we are experiencing is unprecedented and we shall hopefully never have to endure this again in our lifetimes. And so, we now need to focus, get our heads down, work hard and rebuild those industries that have been affected and the construction industry is one of those.”
