In line with a number or successfully delivered projects for the Scottish Prison Services, akp tendered for and were thereafter awarded the internal reconfiguration of three educational spaces within Polmont, Scotland’s national holding facility for young offenders.

Within the first floor we have been instructed to upgrade an office, convert an office into an arts and crafts space as well as refurbish a space into a hairdressing and beauty facility. Akp will also be constructing a no fixed glazed visiting booth section and erect an office within a utility space. On the ground floor, a new life skills facility will be available for the inmates.

The project will be carried out within a live prison environment, therefore security protocols were in the forefront of our minds during the design and programming stages and will continue to be so during the implementation of the project.

Ian McEwan, Joint Managing Director of akp Scotland, commented, “Another project win at Polmont is great and testament to the akp team. It reinforces our past successes working for the Scottish Prison Service within Low Moss, Glenochil and Polmont. This contract award demonstrates well why akp place strong emphasis on building relationships.”
