Kinections East Ayrshire – Building Community Connections
Check out Pg 6 of the Kinections East Ayrshire Newsletter, compiled by The University of the West of Scotland, Institute of Healthcare Policy and Practice.
The publication covers topics including developing and growing sustainable dementia-friendly communities in East Ayrshire care homes and the wider community.
akp were invited to become involved in the June edition of the newsletter in conjunction with the extensive refurbishment project we are undertaking at Springhill Care Home, Kilmarnock.
As part of the project akp have delivered a number of CSR and Community Benefits initiatives including; up-cycling of waste construction materials to help create a new Cook School space and Hair Salon space for the residents and building a raised bed in the homes garden from salvaged timber.
During the winter weather earlier this year akp operatives were also able to lend a hand to assist the Care Home staff by collecting milk and bread whilst the staff were snowed in.
So, this project has been a great example of the different ways, large and small, which Contractors of all sizes can offer added value to a project and client.
