In October 2018 a fire tragically ripped through the popular Italian restaurant Badabing in Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge. In April 2019 akp were engaged as Principal Contractor to carry out the reinstatement works to the premises, to bring it back to its former glory.
The works consisted of a programme of Landlords reinstatement works to the unit comprising of basement, ground and mezzanine.
Works primarily focussed on the ground and mezzanine areas to fully reinstate fixtures, fittings and equipment and also included the installation of new brise soleil and shopfronts.
Educational site visits for local SDS Careers Advisor orgnised by akp’s own Consruction Ambassador. Local employment and supply chain opportunities for individuals and SME’s. Environmental initiatives such as up-cycling construction waste.
Items that were salvaged from the fire included sinks.
These were re-purposed and offered out to local nurseries for their outdoor spaces and mud kitchens.

The Operations and Commercial teams have been excellent throughout and have been very supportive and proactive in their approach. I would like to especially thank Project Manager John for his efforts over the last couple of weeks, which were difficult at times for reasons out with his control, but he pulled a lot of rabbits out of the hat and got us over the line. Yet again, thank you for all your efforts and hopefully I get the opportunity to work with you all again in the near future.

Probably my favourite project to have worked on! A great professional team, highly knowledgeable and skilled and with a great sense of pride in what they do. I would highly recommend them.

School / WLC were extremely appreciative of how John and team carried out works, excellent lines of communication with school throughout. Also, the site housekeeping, co-ordination, health and safety were all excellent.
This is the second time we have used akp for a fit out project in Glasgow, and I would have no hesitation recommending them or using them again.
