We have two exciting vacancies within our Estimating Department for a Senior Estimator and for an Estimating Administrator.

Based in the East Kilbride, akp Scotland Ltd is not just a Principal Contractor, we are an honest and reliable pair of hands with an approachable and collaborative manner to the way we approach every project.

We deliver projects on time and on budget, with quality and attention to detail always at the forefront. We work across all private and public sectors, including commercial, health, education, leisure and hospitality. Our services include everything from dilapidations and refurbishment to fit out and design and build throughout Scotland.

Senior Estimator

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Reporting directly to the Estimating Manager.
  • Working closely with the Operations and Commercial Teams to ensure the commercial viability of contracts.
  • Taking an active role in akp Scotland Ltd Supply Chain cultivation with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensuring tenders are submitted on time.
  • Studying the commercial and technical requirements of a bid making due allowance for and manage those requirements that may place the company at risk or provide commercial opportunities.
  • Carrying out site visits to prospective and current sites to assess work methods and possible challenges or opportunities.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of subcontractors and ensure that estimates are based upon approved and competent suppliers.
  • Acting as the customer contact during the bid process, updating the job file and responding to customer requests for information.
  • Embracing the companies “Building Pride” ethos which reflects our passion to deliver all forms of construction related projects to the highest standards.

Who you are:

  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent experience in Construction Management or related field of study.
  • Experience estimating projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Estimating software experience is preferred.
  • You will have excellent communication and collaboration skills with an ability to inspire confidence and trust among customers and stakeholders.
  • You are proactive, organised and thrive when working as part of a small team to deliver multiple project deadlines.
  • Understanding of refurbishment, fit out, manufactured joinery and construction methods and related product knowledge would be a strong advantage.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility across the organisation and with our customers.
  • Detail and results oriented with strong personal values to succeed.
  • Highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities.

Estimating Administrator

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Reporting directly to the Estimating Manager.
  • Assisting the Estimating Manager and Senior Estimators in the preparation and pricing of tenders.
  • Reviewing tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify essential information for accurate cost estimates.
  • Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Inputting and categorising data into estimating software and spreadsheets.
  • Assisting in generating and submitting accurate and competitive bids within specified deadlines.
  • Supporting the Estimators in maintaining and updating the estimating database.
  • Support the Estimators by applying estimating practices, procedures, and tools.
  • Acting as a secondary point of contact during the bid process, updating the job file and responding to requests for information.

Who you are:

  • Previous experience in an Estimating or Administrator role is preferable.
  • Construction background is preferable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Estimating software experience is preferable.
  • You will have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrate keen attention to detail.
  • Highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of refurbishment, fit out, manufactured joinery and construction methods and related product knowledge would be a strong advantage.
