Further to a selection of key promotions and appointments announced earlier this year, the company has announced the promotion of Finance Manager Edith Paterson to Company Secretary.

akp has a longstanding reputation for delivering high-quality Construction, Refurbishment and Fit Out projects throughout Scotland, and this year celebrates 30 years in business.

Having already had a successful career in finance, Edith joined akp in 2006 as assistant to the then finance manager a position she was promoted to in 2012. Since that time Edith with all her extensive experience has continued to support her colleagues in all sectors of akp Scotland.

Martin McColl, managing director of akp Scotland, said; “Despite the well-documented commercial uncertainties resulting from the health crisis, we are cautiously optimistic regarding the next 12-18 months.

I think all of the akp team would agree that Edith knows the business inside out, having played a key role over the past 14 years during the challenging times of the 2007 global financial crisis and once again during the current pandemic.

Times like these calls for measures to ensure staff, supply chain and clients have consistent, factual information available to them and visibility moving forward, and Edith has been committed to making sure these steps have been taken.”

Edith commented; “I started my career in a general office environment back in the late 1970’s and progressed quickly into the finance side of the business developing an affinity for problem solving; I was fortunate to have a mentor who insisted on accuracy and attention to detail. Those principles have served me well through many challenging roles but have ensured a rewarding career choice.

The last 14 years of my career have been with akp Scotland and this has allowed me to have some of the most gratifying times and I am looking forward to the challenges my new role within the business will bring. akp Scotland are a registered Real Living Wage employer and are signatories of the Prompt Payment Code and I’m delighted to be implementing these responsible business practices to ensure our employees and Supply Chain are paid fairly and equitably, after all, they are at the core of our business.”
