Hanover Street Apartments

22 weeks
Michael Laird

Work has commenced on the development of several holiday apartments in the heart of the Capital. Just steps from Edinburgh’s Princes Street and the National Galleries of Scotland, Hanover Street offers a calm oasis of understated luxury, spacious accommodation and great views with an array of bars, restaurants and coffee houses a minutes’ walk away.

Award Winning Construction, Refurbishment and Fit Out Contractor, akp Scotland, will be undertaking the development of the properties, this being one of three projects they have been involved with recently in and around George Street and Hanover Street, one of Edinburgh’s busiest thoroughfare.

The development encompasses the conversion of 2 buildings into holiday let apartments and will involve external and internal alteration and fit out works to create a variety of studios and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.

The internal works will cover multiple floors across 2 building and will include the formation of new staircases, partitions, flooring, decoration, kitchens, en-suites, ventilation, heating and electrics. External works are to include new roofing, replacement windows, sandstone and granite cleaning and external painting.

The project team includes principal contractor akp Scotland, architect Michael Laird  and project manager PSK.

On completion the development will offer a selection of charming and well-appointed apartments, in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town and city centre.

Martin Rowley, akp Scotland Joint Managing Director, commented; “This prestigious project award for akp in Edinburgh emphasises what we are about and the work ethic we champion – building pride. The akp team has worked on numerous listed buildings and properties of special interest in and around the capital. We look forward to working with the design team and the client  and showcasing the project fully in the coming months.”
