akp are delighted to have been involved in this prestigious project – the refurbishment of the 6 storey A Listed building at 80 George Street in Edinburgh’s New Town.

The project comprised of the refurbishment of of the complete building from basement to sixth floor of office space. The project included new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, services installation, joinerwork, plumbing and decoration, staircases including floor, wall and ceiling finishes and decoration.

Works to the basement level included forming new new cycle facilities. On the ground level we formed a new entrance foyer/reception including floor, wall and ceiling finishes, services installation, decoration, curtain walling/entrance doors, entrance door and reception desk.

Structural works to infill atrium included removal of curtain walling, new structural steel and suspended slabs. Finally there was the addition of an external roof terrace including lighting, decking & soft landscaping.

Logistical elements, that were overcome by the team, included the location of the site, on one of Edinburgh’s busiest streets close to the junction with Frederick Street restricting access to the site and making deliveries challenging. Through many years’ working in busy city centre locations and our extensive experience in refurbishing office buildings our people have overcome the challenges that this type of project brings.
